Close Quarters Combat (CQC) is a generic term for hand-to-hand fighting that is sometimes used to refer to combat systems taught to military personnel.
Such fighting systems include the "Combatives" taught to the United States military or the eclectic style, "Defendu", also known as "Close Quarters Combat System" or "The Fairbairn Fighting System".
In the Dead or Alive games it is left unspecified exactly which system of "close quarters combat" is being referred to.

Trivia[]
- The term "close quarters combat" may also be used to describe a tactical concept in warfare rather than a system of hand-to-hand fighting.[1]
- Although Leon's fighting style has been nominally changed from Sambo to close quarters combat since Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate, he retains the same moves as before and his style bears little resemblance to that of the only other close quarters combat user, SPARTAN-458.
- In addition, SPARTAN-458's moveset was partly adapted as Counter Fiend Combat.[2]
