[edit] History
Ein is Hayate's alter ego in the DOA series. Before Dead or Alive 2, Hayate was captured by DOATEC and became their subeject for Project Epsilon, created by Victor Donovan. The project was suppose to turn him into a superhuman like creature, but it failed and Hayate had lost his memories.
Hayate was left to die in a forest somewhere in Germany until a young girl named Hitomi and her father found him. He didn't know his name, so they named him "Ein".
[edit] Dead or Alive 2
Ein was left to die in the esoteric Black Forest of Germany. Even though he suffered amnesia, his deep desire to fight stayed intact with his beaten body. He mastered Karate in a very short period. He hopes to find answers to his lifetime search of self-discovery through participation in the "Dead or Alive 2 World Combat Championship."
[edit] Dead or Alive 3
Ein was able to get his memories back. Since Hayate is playable, Ein is only a secret character.
[edit] Dead or Alive 4
Although he's only a secret character, Ein actually appears as the final stage of Hitomi's story mode. Hitomi wants Ein to return to the dojo. Ein agrees, but he wants Hitomi to prove her skills to him.
[edit] Personality
Ein's personality is somewhat similar to Hayate. He seems to be reserve, but quiet. In Ayane's and Ryu's story mode in DOA2, Ein basically gets prepare to fight while the both of them were wondering if he was Hayate. This proves that Ein is also ignorant at times. He would want to get with the fight instead conversing. However, if it was something important, like Project Episilon, he would get slightly confused. In Helena's and Kasumi's story mode, both characters confused Ein because of the fact he doesn't know he is a ninja named Hayate. Basically, Ein is quiet, ignorant, amnesiac guy. He is a skilled teacher of his Karate style and still has a great understanding of martial arts even though his conscious memory did not return.. If he was not, Hitomi would not have sought him out in order to help rebuild her father’s dojo. In his spare time, Ein practices breaking bottles with his hand by slicing the tops of them of in a demonstration of skill and entertainment.
[edit] Gameplay
Being the predecessor to Hitomi, Ein is a medium-damage strike character with excellent high-position combos (F, Y or Tsubauchi). He's best played from an aggressive standpoint, where he can position himself close to the enemy. However, a weakness shared between the two is the slight "wind-up" timeframe needed prior to the execution of attacks.
