Maria is non-playable character from the Dead or Alive series. Maria is the mother of Helena Douglas, who's father is Fame Douglas, the head or the Dead or Alive Tournament Executive Committee. Maria was introduced in Dead or Alive 2 in a short cutscene from Helena's story mode. It shows that an assassin was sent to kill Helena, but Maria protected Helena and was shot instead. Maria was killed and Helena started to have a lust for vengence. Earlier in the series (DOA2), Helena mistook Ayane as the murderer, when actually, Ayane was making a joke. It was revealed in Dead or Alive 4 that Christie was the assassin that killed Maria.
