[edit] Dead or Alive 2
Story mode began in Dead or Alive 2. Basically you start the mode by fighting a random selected character first. After stage 1, cutscenes will appear after. Unfornately in this mode, cutscenes will come randomly for each character. Characters will have around 3-4 cutscenes. There is one thing that every character has in their story mode; they all will fight a random character in in the Danger Zone.
After the last cutscene fight, the character will face the final boss, the Tengu. After the fight with the Tengu, the character's ending will appear. The endings are shown in gameplay graphics, not in CG graphics. The only character whose ending will show after the credits and not after the fight with the Tengu is Kasumi.
[edit] Dead or Alive 3
Story mode changed a little bit in DOA 3. There are 7 stages to go through in story. You fight two random characters in stages 1 & 2 and a cutscene will appear on stage 3. Another will appear at stage 6 and on stage 7, you fight Omega. Then a CG ending will appear for that character.
[edit] Dead or Alive 4
Dead or Alive 4's concept is a the same as DOA 3, but different. You now will fight three random characters in the first three stages. Cutscenes will appear only on stages 4 and 7. After stage 7, you will fight the final boss. However, not everyone has the same final boss. The character that is mostly the final boss in story mode is ALPHA-152. Others will have different ones, basically depending on who is involved in their story mode. For instance, Eliot's final boss is Gen Fu because in his story, Eliot must prove to Gen Fu his martial arts. After that, CG endings will appear. In this game, most of the characters will be up against Helena in any part of their story mode.
